I've told stories to everyone I sang songs for no one I've fought hard for something And cried tears for nothing It's the same old song It's the same old song I've laughed out loud in front of everyone I've made a scene in front of no one I smashed my glass just to make a sound And whispered softly when nobody's around It's the same old song It's the same old song Yeah you knew it all along It's the same old song It's the same old song It's the same old song

L.A. Tonight 04:16
Fool proof and pennywise You tell yourself it's just one more lie I think I'll take it cross country this time L.A. sure would be nice...yeah it would be nice Unicorns and rainbows Muscle beaches and freak shows This make believe has an afterglow But you don't care, you still wanna go I woke up in L.A. tonight The land of movie stars holds me tight If I came to you with my head on right Would you dance with me till the morning light? If I woke up in L.A. tonight If I woke up in L.A. tonight Friday morning another fight Neither one of you doubt you're right You try to sleep it off this time We'll start fresh and we'll feel just fine You know you'll feel just fine I woke up in L.A. tonight The land of movie stars holds me tight If I came to you with my head on right Would you dance with me till the morning light? Would you dance with me till the morning light? And she watches now as you're falling down So she'll tell you how you're so broken now All those shades of gray seem to fall away And you wonder how it all got away The confusion reigns it all stays the same Like that next pop star that falls in the game
3.
If you come to me honestly To wash away the sins you see And I look at you through and through For reasons that have escaped you Would you even try? Would you wonder why? Would you even try? Would you wonder why? If you bring me some integrity To make up for what you don't see And I run away leaving you confused For reasons that have escaped you Would you even try? Would you wonder why? Would you even try? Would you wonder why?
4.
Tired of the same old game You look in all the wrong places And every road that you walk down It's just faceless faces I wonder if she'll look at me Or will she just look down? I hate it here I hate it there Man I hate this town So I'll look out for the sunsets from rooftops Keep dreaming those dreams that just keep me awake And I'll find me some wings to just fly over those concrete blocks Nothing, no nothing can hurt if you just look away It's time to look in the mirror And see what you see Reflections that last forever Like sunsets in New York City So I'll look out for the sunsets from rooftops Keep dreaming those dreams that just keep me awake And I'll find me some wings to fly over those concrete blocks Nothing, no nothing can hurt if you just look away So I'll look out for the sunsets from rooftops Keep dreaming those dreams that just keep me awake And I'll find me some wings to just fly over those concrete blocks Nothing, no nothing can hurt if you just look away

about

"It’s never too late in life…” I always heard that saying, but never paid too much attention to it. I guess I always felt like I had my whole life ahead of me. Fast forward a few decades; marriage, two teenage sons and a long career in law enforcement… Suddenly, that cliche of a saying began to take on more meaning for me. As I plodded through my 40’s, with more than my share of physical and emotional bruises, I realized that I had spent the better part of my adult life on a sort of auto pilot. I suppose that’s true for a lot of us.

I may have been plodding along, but it's not like I didn't feel fulfilled and it's not like I was looking for something. I didn't even realize what I was missing until somewhere around 2015. One of my old high school buddies called me up and asked if I wanted to play some drums again... I did.

BUT.... It had been something like 20 years since I last touched a drumstick. I always loved making music with my friends when I was a kid, but how could that fit into my life now? Was it even possible? There was only one way to find out.

So I found myself sitting behind a drum kit again and man, it felt great banging on those drums! A few rehearsals later, we went into the studio to record my buddy's song. That's all it took. I was hooked. I said that day in the studio that I was going to buy a guitar and start writing my own songs. And so I did…

Over the next two years, I taught myself the guitar (I could play a little before) and began trying to develop my own singing voice. I practiced. I wrote music. I wrote lyrics. I sang. Rinse and repeat for the next few years.

What came out of it was Fast Falls and Hard Landings. This music is a definite departure from my punk rock roots. It's more inspired by bands like Counting Crows, Dashboard Confessional and countless acoustic singer/songwriters. Fast Falls and Hard Landings has been my passion for the past 18 months. It's never too late in life.

about

Side Project Skip Scotch Plains, New Jersey

I started playing drums as a kid. It was the 80's and we played a lot of noisy punk rock in my parent's basement. But after college, I left my sticks down there with my kit to gather dust. Many years later, the drums are still dusty, but I have an acoustic guitar, a notebook full of lyrics and now my first EP. ... more
